BBS Graphics History: Pretty Awesome, Until the Web Showed Up tedium.co

This article paints RIP graphics, an old standard for graphical content from the dial-up BBS era, in a much more positively nostalgic way than I recall it. My memory is of trying out RIP on one of the handful of Australian BBSes that bothered to implement anything in it and finding it did nothing but slow down the experience - even if it was a little prettier.

You also needed a terminal that run in a graphical environment like Windows, and I was married to Telix back then. Running something as bloated as Windows just to run a terminal? Who'd do that?
